EG Group partners with charity for Exciting Children's Hospital Renovation Project

An exciting new long-term partnership launched today between EG Group and Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital Charity.

EG Group’s fundraising efforts will enable Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital Charity to enhance 10 cubicles on the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit. Children who receive treatment on the unit often stay for about six to eight weeks, but some can stay up to six months. During their transplant period, they are nursed in isolation, which means they cannot leave their cubicle and are limited in the number of visitors who can see them.

The unit currently has 11 cubicles and 10 of them are painted neutral colours. Children often display artwork on the wall to brighten up the room and decorate the cubicle windows. With the help of EG Group colleagues and customers, every cubicle, and two parent rooms, will have a more fun and child-friendly décor which will significantly improve the environment and inpatient experience.

Speaking about the new partnership, Zuber Issa CBE, founder and Co-CEO of EG Group said: “EG Group is immensely proud to support the enhancement of the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit. The wellbeing of patients during their hospital stay is key to their recovery and being able to play a role in this is something we are proud of.”

Employees working at EG Group’s Subway outlets are currently on the return leg of the ‘Around the World in 80 Days’ challenge, which involves walking, running or cycling the circumference of the world in 80 days – a phenomenal total of 40,075km. Money raised from this event will also be donated to the cause.

There are exciting plans for the next stage of fundraising. Fundraising packs are being sent out to all EG Group UK sites to encourage colleagues to come up with their own unique and creative ways to fundraise. The sites will also host a large-screen QR code so that both colleagues and customers can join in the pledge to make a real difference to the lives of young patients at Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital.

Mohsin Issa CBE, founder and Co-CEO of EG Group added: “We very much see this partnership as one where the EG Group family can play our part in providing support to patients and their families at the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital.”

The Charity’s Senior Corporate Fundraising Manager Rachel Laycock said: “Today may well mark the launch of the partnership but EG Group colleagues have already shown tonnes of enthusiasm in getting their fundraising started early.

“It’s really encouraging to work with such a passionate team and it’s obvious that the children’s hospital is a place they hold very close to their hearts.

“Everyone at the Charity and the hospital is excited to work with EG Group and see the cubicles given the makeover the children deserve.”
