EG GROUP RAISES MORE THAN £81,000
EG Group partnered with Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital Charity in January 2021 to help raise funds to enhance ten cubicles on the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit. Children who receive treatment on the unit often stay for about six to eight weeks, but some can stay up to six months. During their transplant period, they are nursed in isolation, which means they cannot leave their cubicle and are limited in the number of visitors who can see them. Children often display artwork on the wall to brighten up the room and decorate the cubicle windows.
As a result of EG Group’s fundraising efforts, a donation of over £81,000 was made to the charity with colleagues from across the business getting involved with fundraising. The EG Group Subway team set out on a challenge of cycling, walking and running the circumference of the earth, covering a phenomenal 40,075km in 80 days. Colleagues from EG Group Burger King helped raise over £10,000 through various fundraising initiatives including selling raffle tickets.
At Head Office, teams of colleagues participated in March for March, a challenge set to see which team of 5 could cover the most steps. By the end of the month, 16 teams raised around £1,000 and covered nearly 10,000 miles collectively! Group CIO, Graham Billsborough and Imran Badat took part in the Manchester Marathon with Imran helping to raise more than £21,000 through his fundraising activities.
