MACMILLAN CANCER SUPPORT
EG GROUP RAISES MORE THAN £47,000
In May 2023, EG Group partnered with Macmillan Cancer Support.
Macmillan give people with cancer all the help they can. If you’re diagnosed, your worries are their worries. They will move mountains to help you live life as fully as you can. And they don’t stop there. They’re going all out to find better ways to help people with cancer and they’re doing whatever it takes. So far, they’ve given £200 million to support cancer research throughout the world and their ambition is to fund £20 million of research annually.
Throughout the partnership, EG Group raised funds for Macmillan Cancer Support across its network of sites in the UK, setting up over 1,500 donation banks where both colleagues and customers could donate. A number of fundraising activities were also held including a Macmillan ‘Chai’ Morning and participation in the Yorkshire Dales Mighty Hike.
Thanks to the generosity of our colleagues and customers, we raised over £47,000.
Our colleagues at Cooplands launched a limited edition “Bis-kini” shortbread biscuit, in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support. The product was available to purchase throughout August and 25p from the sale of each biscuit went directly to Macmillan. The team raised more than £2,000.
EG colleague, Jessica Watson – Marketing Assistant at Cooplands, alongside five of her friends took part in the Yorkshire Dales Mighty Hike to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support, a charity close to her heart.
Aiming to raise £1,000, Jessica and her friends raised an incredible £1,460 thanks to the support of generous friends and colleagues.
Jessica said: “I took part in the Yorkshire Dales Mighty Hike because I love a challenge but more importantly because Macmillan is a charity really close to my family. I have family and friends who were given incredible care and treated with patience and dignity by Macmillan nurses. If we wake up and all those we love and care for are healthy, it’s a good day – and it’s our job to help those who aren’t so fortunate.”
In June, we held a Macmillan ‘Chai’ Morning at our Waterside Head Office to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support. Colleagues were invited to bake sweet treats for colleagues to purchase, with ‘Chai’ and pastries donated by EG Group. On offer were fresh cream cakes, cookies, brownies, cupcakes and even scones with clotted cream and jam! Thanks to the generosity of our colleagues, we managed to raise nearly £600 on the day. A fantastic team effort!
